Replacement cost of boat gear?

It is a 17-foot Bayliner 1988 I / O (OMC Cobra). After years w / a bad cable (which was recently replaced) Forward gear is removed and only lead to the reverse and in the store from his boat to wait 3 weeks for repairs. Just wondering what price should waiting. Also the air filter recorded bent, stop or fix it? And about how much?

If my lower unit for the winter two summers ago and the lower gearbox had metal shavings in it. Needless to say, had to break the unit cost down and rebuild was well above the estimates of these two other gentlemen. $ 2200 for all new gears and drive shaft. Yes mine was still working when he had for the winter. We hope that good and I'm wrong, but not bet on it. Good luck!
