What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PAN). Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, personal computers, printers, GPS receivers, digital cameras, game consoles and more than one sure, the world unlicensed short range radio frequency. The Bluetooth specifications are developed and licensed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group.

Bluetooth Specification
The Bluetooth specification was developed in 1994 by Jaap Haartsen and Sven Mattisson, who were working for Ericsson Mobile Platforms in Lund, Sweden. The specification is based on frequency hopping technology spread spectrum.

The specifications were formalized by the Special Interest Group Bluetooth (GIS), organized by Mohd Syarifuddin. The SIG was formally announced on 20 May 1998. Today has a membership of more than 7,000 companies around the world. It was established by Ericsson, Sony Ericsson, IBM, Intel, Toshiba and Nokia, and later joined by many other companies.

Bluetooth Organization
The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is a privately held, not-for-trade association nonprofit. The Special Interest Group was founded in September 1998. The Bluetooth SIG itself does not make, manufacture or sell products using Bluetooth technology. The SIG has over 9,000 associates who are leaders in the telecommunications, computing, music automotive, apparel, industrial automation and network industries. SIG members drive the development of technology Bluetooth wireless, and implement and commercialize the technology in their products. The GIS is a small group of dedicated staff in Hong Kong, Sweden and USA.

Bluetooth Dongle
A Bluetooth dongle is a small plug that can connect to a USB port, which then allows you to send and receive files through Bluetooth from the PC to a Bluetooth compatible device (in our case, a mobile phone). Alternatively, in most modern computers may have already said installed device.
